Pathway from conscious to subconscious

An iceberg is frequently used to illustrate and help visualize the three different levels of the mind. The conscious is the tip of the iceberg that you can see. The preconscious  mind is small area right below the surface. The subconscious is the large area that is unseen submerged underwater and is bigger than the top of the iceberg.

The subconscious mind controls all natural  functions and systems of the body including the nervous, endocrine, respiratory and digestive systems that keeps each of us alive.  The conscious mind includes all memory, emotions and our connections with each other.

The conscious mind is associated with judgements, thinking, analyzing and decision-making. This part of the mind is always active but can only hold so much information at a time. As the bits of knowledge are processed they are then filed into the subconscious where they can be called upon consciously or where they rise up impulsively or instinctively.

While in the hypnotic and  tranquil state, the conscious mind allows access to the powerful subconscious, also known as the deep mind or the dreaming mind.

Everything is remembered during the hypnotic state. You are technically awake and you cannot be told to do anything that is against your values or morals.
